CV

I am broadly interested in ecosystem responses to various, interacting aspects of climate change. For my PhD, I plan to research how grasslands with a history of exposure to chronic changes in climate will respond to more extreme, episodic climate events. I am particularly interested in changes in the belowground aspects of this ecosystem and in climate influences on carbon cycling and sequestration.

I received a B.S. in Biology from Hope College in 2012. I was involved in numerous research projects as an undergraduate, and after college I worked as a research associate at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center and then at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. My research experience has covered a wide spectrum of subjects and latitudes, ranging from microbiology to ecosystem ecology, and taking me from the tropics to the arctic.
