FACWet considers the degree to which seven fundamental state variables have been impacted in a wetland and then models the resultant effects on natural functioning and overall condition of the assessment site.

Welcome to the FACWet webpage!  FACWet is the new mode of wetland assessment and evaluation in the State of Colorado, incorporating the latest advancements in wetland science and assessment technology.

FACWet was developed in a collaborative effort involving Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado State University, EcoMetrics, LLC, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  It is primarily designed to address the regulatory community’s need for functional assessment in administration of the Clean Water Act in Colorado, including pre-project assessment, mitigation planning, and post-project evaluation.

This webpage was created to provide potential FACWet users with ready access to the most current version of the methodology, including the user guide, data sheets and automated scoring sheets.  We also provide some summary information about the method, its current status development, the research team and other new developments in Colorado’s Clean Water Act Program.
